About Father Kendell

Fr. Kendall Ketterlin is a priest of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph and Pastor of St. Mary Parish in Independence, Missouri.  He also serves as the Diocesan Chaplain for the local chapters of Courage and Encourage, and the Towel of Veronica Apostolate.

Fr. Ketterlin was ordained at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on May 25, 2019 by Bishop James V. Johnston, Jr.  Prior to his ordination, Fr. Ketterlin had previously professed simple vows with the Order of Carmelites before discerning Diocesan Priesthood.  This formation in Carmelite Spirituality continues to be an essential part and foundation for his priesthood, with particularly strong friendship to St. Teresa of Avila.

In 2020 his budding devotion to St. Joseph inspired him to lead a 33 day consecration to St. Joseph which was initially directed online due to restrictions during the Covid Pandemic.  To his surprise, this consecration quickly turned into his second published book, now having sold over 3,000 copies.  His first book Remembering God, gives the story of his work following Hurricane Katrina and the beginning of the renewal of his call that eventually brought him to the priesthood.  He is currently working on a commentary adapting the Carmelite Rule to family life in the 21st century and a way of the spiritual life described through the days of creation in the Book of Genesis.

In addition to his writing, he regularly gives conferences on discernment and advancing in the spiritual life and continues to offer Spiritual Direction and deliverance ministry to his parishioners.

As part of his ministry to the families of Courage and Encourage, he has commissioned artwork of the Archangel Raphael, as the Archangel of our time.
